Wed. Evening Hike – July 15, 2015 – Beautiful Evening

After a rainy week it was refreshingly cool and dry for our evening hike at Chestnut Ridge Park.  We welcomed two “new-to-our-group” hikers who, along with the others, enjoyed sharing and talking while we hiked along the trail.  There was plenty of bird song, particularly the wood thrush, which we hear every week.  Just a few more weeks, believe or not, and then they will start migrating again. This writer’s favorite section which goes along Shale Creek was extra beautiful as it flowed over multicolored shale in little cascades, through the miniature flume area , and to the roman bath section so beloved by our accompanying dogs.  Come join us some time especially if you have never hiked this park before.  Submitted by Cheryl Peluso  Picture by Janet Kowalski.
