HIKE — Deer Lick Nature Sanctuary — 9/21/19

Our delightful group of twelve enjoyed sunshine and colorful early Fall foliage for an enjoyable 4-mile hike at Deer Lick Nature Sanctuary. We enjoyed all the special features that this WNY gem offers including maidenhair and sensitive ferns, a spectacular trio of Old Growth tulip trees, and the sublime ravine and cascades at Deer Lick Creek. We navigated a lollipop trail plan, taking the white trail to Bear Point to view South Branch Cattaraugus Creek, then returning on the yellow trail to view the serene cascades and scenic ravine.

The Nature Conservancy, whose motto is “Saving the last Great Places on Earth”, does a fine job maintaining these trails which provide year-round joy for WNY hikers.
